§ 66-154. Procedures for backflow devices.

  • Standard operating procedures for backflow devices are as follows:

    (1)

    All commercial and industrial accounts shall have an approved backflow device, the type to be determined by the utilities cross connection technician.

    (2)

    All fire lines shall have an approved detector double check assembly installed as close to the main as possible.

    (3)

    All irrigation systems shall have an approved backflow assembly, the type to be determined by the utilities cross connection technician.

    (4)

    All premises with auxiliary water shall have an approved reduced pressure principle backflow assembly.

    (5)

    All sites using reclaimed water shall be equipped with an RP2.

    (6)

    All backflow devices shall be installed in accordance with specifications set forth by USC FCCCHR.

    (7)

    All backflow devices shall be installed in a horizontal position and shall have resilient seal shutoff valves.

    (8)

    All installations shall be inspected and approved by the utilities department per F.A.C. 17-555.360.

    (9)

    The USC FCCCHR manual (latest edition) shall be used as a guideline.

    (10)

    The town encourages the use of approved backflow devices with replaceable seats and discs.
