§ 66-143. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Approved backflow device means a device approved by USC FCCCHR.

    Auxiliary water means an unapproved water supply and/or system (well, pump out of lake or stream, etc.).

    Customer means any person, business, and/or any other entity residing in and/or doing business within the town limits, or who by contract is bound to the provisions of this article, and who is or was connected to the town waterworks system, or who is or was receiving water service from the town.

    Emergency means any sudden, unexpected or unforeseen event that in the opinion of the water department may present an imminent and substantial danger to the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the town if not acted upon immediately.

    Manual means the Cross Connection Control Manual adopted in section 66-147.

    USC FCCCHR means the University of Southern California Foundation for Cross Connection Control and Hydraulic Research.
